Troop 150 Adult Leadership

Volunteering for leadership is a very rewarding experience.  If you would like to be a parent leader in Troop 150 please review the positions below.  Positions require a minimum one year commitment.  Terms begin in June.  If you currently hold a position and are willing to continue in your current capacity or would like to make a change please notify the committee chairman during the month of May each year. All parents are welcome and encouraged to be involved in events, meetings and outings even if you don't hold an official position.  


Chartered Organization
All Parents of Troop 150  

Responsibilities:

Committee Chair

Responsibilities:
* Organizes the committee to see that all functions are delegated, coordinated, and completed.
*  Notifies parent leaders of training opportunities
*  Maintains a close relationship with the charted organization representative and Scoutmaster  
* Prepare troop committee meeting agendas
*  Presides over troop committee meetings, parent meetings and any special meetings that may be called
*  Ensures troop representation at monthly roundtables
*  Approves all the committee positions and scoutmaster for the troop  
* Reviews annually charter  
* Encourages and solicits parent participation
* Member of troop committee  

Scoutmaster  
Tom Bauer 

 

Responsibilities:
* Inspiration for the troop  
* Maintains trained status  
* Works directly with the scouts on all issues
*  Wears a Scout uniform when the scouts are in uniform.
*  Active Participant in all events and Troop meetings
*  Reviews active status of scouts in leadership roles every 30 days
*  Promotes Advancement for scouts  
* Member of troop committee

* Active participant in events.

* Mentor Troop Instructor as needed - Support boy-led feature
* Mentor Patrol Leader as needed - Support boy-led feature
* Collect advancement progress status as instructed by the Advancement Coordinator
* Member of troop committee

Advancement Coordinator

Responsibilities:
* Encourages scouts to advance in rank
* Maintains troop advancement records
* Arranges troop boards of review
* Develops and maintains a merit badge counselor list
* Secures badges and certificates for courts of honor
* Member of the troop committee
* Reports to Scoutmaster

Outdoor Activities Chairman 
Jan Carpenter

Responsibilities:
* Serves as transportation coordinator
* Organizes drivers for events, working with Trip Leader
* Confirms parent participation for events
* Helps Trip Leader in securing camping sites
* Obtains Tour permits and Float Plan and delivers copies to Trip Leader and Scout Council Office
* Updates permits at time of trip if needed.
* Communicates information to the parents, working with Trip Leader
* Maintains and collects health forms for scouts and adult leaders 
* Ensure delivery of health form to the trip leader for each event.
* Member of the troop committee
* Reports to Committee Chairman

Treasure
Chris Metcalf

Responsibilities:
* Keeps accurate financial records for the troop
* Leads the Friends of Scouting campaign
* Provides a financial report for all committee & parent meetings.
* Collects all monies for events.
* Member of the troop committee
* Reports to Committee Chairman

Secretary

Responsibilities:
* Handles publicity for the troop
* Posts a chaperone schedule for troop meetings if necessary
* Keeps minutes at parents meetings
* Keeps minutes at committee meetings
* Advises the troop scribe on his duties
* Member of the troop committee
* Reports to Committee Chairman

Quartermaster

Responsibilities:
* Works directly with the scout quartermaster to maintain a complete inventory of the troop assets and supplies
*  Makes sure all troop equipment is returned and in clean & working condition.
* Member of the troop committee

Chaplain

Responsibilities:
* Provides spiritual tone for the troop at meetings and on activities
* Member of the troop committee
* Reports to Committee Chairman

Web Master

Responsibilities:
* Designs and maintains a troop web site
* Maintains an accurate parent and scout contact list
* Maintains an annual calendar
* Reports to Committee Chairman

Troop Registrar

Responsibilities:
* Is in charge of re-chartering the troop each November
* Maintains a complete list of trained adults and scouts
* Member of the troop committee
* Reports to Committee Chairman

Trail to First Class Advisor
Troy Miller and Myron Masters

Responsibilities:
*
Creates and organizes opportunities for TFC advancement.
* Communicates to Scouts, Patrol Leader & Troop Instructors on advancement needed.
* Mentors supervisory scouts in their role & responsibilities for rank training.
* At times conduct training events.
* Assists in the maintains troop advancement records
* Assists in the arrangement of troop boards of review for TFC scouts
* Serves as a board of review member
* Reports to Advancement Coordinator

Eagle Scout Mentor/Advisor

Responsibilities:
* Assist Eagle Scout candidates in thru the process, advising on planning, & execution of project & board of review process.
* Serves as a mentor for Star & Life Scout advancement.
* Assists in the arrangement of troop boards of review for upper rank scouts
* Serves as a board of review member
* Reports to Advancement Coordinator

Tree Recycling Coordinator

Responsibilities:
* Updates the maps used for tree recycling each year
* Physically scouts out areas for the troop to recycle in
* Submits maps to troop committee prior to October 1st each year
* Coordinates all activities around Tree Recycling

High Adventure Coordinator

Responsibilities:
* Solicits and collect outdoor adventure ideas
* Submits adventure ideas to the PLC (and Troop Committee as needed).
* Works with the PLC to choose and coordinate events
* Secures Adult and Scout Trip Leaders, working with Committee Chairman and PLC
* Works the Trip Leaders on organization, Scout Trip Leader mentoring, and outdoor skill and safety requirements.
* Reports to Scoutmaster & PLC

Church Breakfast Coordinator

Responsibilities:
* Organize and Executes Church Breakfast Events
* Plans Menu and Function Specifics
* Procures Supplies / Food
* Reports to Committee Chairman

Clue Book Coordinator

Responsibilities:
* Edits the Clue Book as needed - Typically yearly
* Procures material and produce Clue Book as needed
* Reports to Committee Chairman

Summer Camp Coordinator

Responsibilities:
* Solicits and collect summer camp ideas
* Submits summer camp ideas to the PLC (and Troop Committee as needed).
* Works with the PLC to choose and coordinate summer camp an events scrounging summer camp
* Secures Adult and Scout Trip Leader as needed with Committee Chairman and PLC
* Works the Trip Leaders to on organization, Scout Trip Leader mentoring, and outdoor skill and safety requirements.
* Reports to Committee Chairman

Uniform Coordinator

Responsibilities:
* Gathers old scout uniforms and makes uniforms available for scouts needing a uniform
* Contacts scouts who leave the troop and collects the Troop 150 neckerchiefs
* Contacts scouts who leave the troop and asks if they would be willing to donate the uniform for the good of the troop.
* Reports to Committee Chairman

Safety / Training Coordinator
Gary Rischitelli

Responsibilities:
* Works with the registrar to track the adults Safety and Scouting Training Status.
* Encourages adults to complete necessary training as appropriate
* Provides information on training opportunities for Adults.
* Organizes specific safety training events as needed.
* Reports to Committee Chairman

Photographer
Elena Miller

Responsibilities:
*
To make sure all troop activities are documented with photographs
* Create and maintain a photo library for the troop

FOS Representative

Responsibilities:

Relay Friends of Scouting information to the Parents of Troop 150

Merit Badge Counselors
All Parents are welcome

Responsibilities:
*
Organizes, Teaches and Signs-off for selected Merit Badge awards, based on hobby, profession or certification proficiency
* Communicates with the Advancement Coordinator and Scouts on schedule and progress
* Reports to and is approved by the Advancement Coordinator

Christopher Fund

The Christopher Fund is a fund dedicated to the memory of Christopher Scherzinger. The purpose of the fund is to direct monies for three memorials in memory of Christopher and provide scholarships to scouts in need.

  • To build and dedicate a bench with a memorial Plaque at the trailhead of Eagle Creek
  • Dedicate a bridge recently refurbished by Greg Tainter's Eagle Project with a memorial Plaque.
  • Dedicate and plant at Peanut Butter Tree at Robert Gray Middle School with a memorial Plaque
  • To provide on going scholarships to scouts in need when they can not afford scout activities.

Troop 150 will dedicate a percentage of there annual Tree Recycling fund raiser every year and any monies left is a scout bank account when the scout leaves troop 150
